A geography-themed game of strategy and quick reflexes where players swap seats to avoid being caught.

From the All Eyes on Me retro party-game collection, this old-fashioned favourite brings simple fun to a modern gathering.

At a glance

Players: 5+ players.
You will need: Stable chairs and location names.
Cost: Free instructions; use items you already have. Optional props or prizes may cost extra.

How to play

  1. Arrange chairs in a circle and give each player a city or country name.
  2. Choose a caller to stand in the centre with eyes open.
  3. The caller announces two locations, such as ‘London to Tokyo’. Those two players walk to swap seats.
  4. The caller tries to take one of the empty seats. Whoever is left standing becomes the next caller.
  5. Call ‘Round the World’ occasionally so everyone changes seats.

Host’s tip

Keep it at walking pace. A seated version uses exchanged location cards instead of changing chairs.

Agree on the rules before you start. Guests can join, adapt a movement or pass; use points or optional playful challenges wherever the retro rules mention forfeits.
