A geography-themed game of strategy and quick reflexes where players swap seats to avoid being caught.
From the All Eyes on Me retro party-game collection, this old-fashioned favourite brings simple fun to a modern gathering.
At a glance
Players: 5+ players.
You will need: Stable chairs and location names.
Cost: Free instructions; use items you already have. Optional props or prizes may cost extra.
How to play
- Arrange chairs in a circle and give each player a city or country name.
- Choose a caller to stand in the centre with eyes open.
- The caller announces two locations, such as ‘London to Tokyo’. Those two players walk to swap seats.
- The caller tries to take one of the empty seats. Whoever is left standing becomes the next caller.
- Call ‘Round the World’ occasionally so everyone changes seats.
Host’s tip
Keep it at walking pace. A seated version uses exchanged location cards instead of changing chairs.
Agree on the rules before you start. Guests can join, adapt a movement or pass; use points or optional playful challenges wherever the retro rules mention forfeits.
