Plan a summer celebration with guest comfort in mind: shade, water, cooling, appropriate clothing and a practical backup for outdoor plans.
Australia: December–February. United States: June–August. These conventional seasonal months are a starting point. Local climate, altitude and the destination matter more than an assumed seasonal look.
Ask which areas will have shade at the ceremony time, whether the indoor space has effective cooling and how guests will reach it. A beautiful lawn can feel very different during the hottest part of the day.
Consider the length of outdoor ceremonies and photo sessions. Discuss timing with the venue and photographer, and arrange seating, water and an easy route to shelter. Check whether an accessible path remains usable in the backup arrangement.
Choose fabrics and layers that feel comfortable to wear for several hours. Talk to your outfit provider about lining, fit and practical adjustments rather than choosing solely from photographs.
Keep jewellery/jewelry and hair details comfortable and secure. Try garters and wrist garters ahead of time, particularly if you expect warmth or dancing. Check satin gloves or other formal details with the whole outfit. Guests can be told whether they will be on grass, sand or paved surfaces.
Ask the caterer about food storage, service timing and the cake’s location. Let the florist recommend arrangements suitable for the setting and conditions. These decisions belong in the vendor plan rather than becoming a day-of improvisation.
Check regional hazards as well as ordinary rain. The US Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November, and northern Australia’s wet season broadly runs October through April. That does not make every date unsuitable; it makes destination-specific planning and flexible arrangements useful.
Agree who makes the weather decision, when they make it and how guests will be informed. A marquee/tent is only a suitable option when the venue and provider confirm it is appropriate for the conditions.
Work backwards with our Wedding Planning Timeline & Checklist, then choose details through the Colour My World guides.
Australian Bureau of Meteorology and US National Weather Service provide local weather information and warnings. These are practical planning suggestions from All Eyes on Me; check the climate and conditions for your destination.
