A hilarious game of coordination and mimicry where players must follow the leader’s actions while passing the message around the circle.

From the All Eyes on Me retro party-game collection, this old-fashioned favourite brings simple fun to a modern gathering.

At a glance

Players: 3+ players.
You will need: No equipment.
Cost: Free instructions; use items you already have. Optional props or prizes may cost extra.

How to play

  1. Players sit in a circle. One player starts by saying to their neighbour, “The Master has sent me to you.”
  2. The neighbour replies, “For what?”
  3. The original player responds, “To work with me and do as I do,” while performing an action, such as tapping their knee.
  4. This continues around the circle, with each player mimicking the action.
  5. On subsequent rounds, add more actions (e.g., tapping the other knee, wagging a foot, or nodding).
  6. Any mistakes result in an optional playful challenge.

Host’s tip

Keep adding more complex actions to increase the challenge and hilarity.

Agree on the rules before you start. Guests can join, adapt a movement or pass; use points or optional playful challenges wherever the retro rules mention forfeits.
